We’re teaming up with D&AD to host its hugely popular Manchester Creative Lab here at Code Computerlove HQ next month.
The series of D&AD training session and gatherings will be taking place from Monday 6th to Wednesday 8th November. Here’s more about what’s going to be happening…
Monday 6th November: Presenting Creative Work with Tom Evans
It’s a fact that 99% of the creative work produced in an agency never sees the light of day – falling at that first hurdle when creatives present their idea internally, or falling at the last with the client.
Tom wants to help you overcome these barriers by sharing his pitching tips and tricks, from the importance of recognising your ideal style through to advice on how to read your audience.
His session will leave you with nowhere to hide and provide you with the necessary skills to nail that creative pitch.
Tuesday 7th November: How to Get the Best Out of Your Creative Team with Nadya Powell
Setting creative visions and dealing with difficult egos are just two of the many challenges that Nadya Powell’s session on leadership will focus on.
Nadya – who has successfully built three businesses – will share her own experiences and offer invaluable insights around leading a productive, successful creative team.
Wednesday 8th November: Digital Storytelling in Advertising with L.A. Ronayne
The developing digital world and advancing technology has left us all with shorter attention spans than ever – meaning creatives now often need to nail a story within a six-second window.
Creative Director L.A. Ronayne’s session will thoroughly cover the concept and strategy behind digital storytelling. She’ll be sharing her wealth of experience through exercises and examples designed to not only improve your style but your understanding too.
Monday 6th November: New Blood Mixer
Old blood and new blood unite for an evening of speed dating-style portfolio crits. Local education institutions bring students looking for a chance to get some all-important feedback, and Manchester’s senior creatives come along in search of their next set of juniors.
Wednesday 8th November: President’s Lecture
Previous President’s Lectures have seen the likes of Phillipe Starck, Dougal Wilson and Margaret Calvert share their wisdom. Manchester’s speaker is to be confirmed soon, so keep an eye on the D&AD site.
Spaces for each event are limited – tickets for the last Manchester Creative Lab sold out quickly – so now’s the time to sign up.
If you would like to attend any of the training or for more information on the Lab and how to book spaces, please contact either Patrick.Neligan@dandad.org or Frankie.Guzi@dandad.org. Alternatively give them a call on 020 7840 1130.
Our own creatives will be taking part in the session and will be reporting back here on the blog.
