Manchester International Festival

Creating a dynamic website for the festival

What we were asked to do

The first ever Manchester International Festival (MIF) will take place in July 2007 - and, billed as the world's first international festival of original specially commissioned work, the MIF will reinforce Manchester's position as a world-class city and innovative cultural capital. The festival is being preceded by a series of high-profile trailblazer events - and Code Computerlove's brief was to create a strong presence for the Festival on the web and help sell tickets to the festivals events.

What we did

Phase 1 of the website (September 2005) provided an exciting introduction to the Festival for the public, for potential sponsors and for contributors. Phase 2 (Oct 2005) saw implementation of a full and dynamic website, covering trailblazer events, how to volunteer for the festival, recruitment opportunities, key sponsor details, media information - and calls to action to sign up for a regular e-newsletter.

What happened

The website has played a key role in establishing MIF as a key event in the international cultural calendar and has already attracted a massive amount of interest with site visits soaring beyond expectation from launch. Site traffic surged prior with the addition of a Microsite to support the first trailblazer event - a 5 day residency at the Manchester Opera House by Gorillaz. Furthermore the site has been a successful driver in people signing up to for regular email information about the festival & in recruiting volunteers.
