Computerlovers Christmas In Krakow

Following a few hours of travel (and drinking), the 55-strong Code team gathered in their salubrious £10-a-night hostel in Krakow for a bit of karaoke (and drinking) followed by a club (and drinking) until the early hours. Some of the agency eventually climbed into their bunk beds, not necessarily in their assigned dormitory, although one team member decided a park bench was more comfortable for the night.

It was Tyskie beer pipes in the imaginatively named PUB for breakfast followed by horse and carriage rides for some token sight seeing before more drinking.

The trip also included the Code 2009 Awards, where the team gathered on the second night to see who would take this year’s coveted prizes (cheap souvenirs from the local market). Five awards were presented in total.

The big winner of the night was planning director Chris Heg who was crowned Most Code – the person who combines their specialism with their passion and helps everyone to do better ‘digital stuff’. Chris also took the award for Best Specialist.

The Best Newcomer award went to project manager Ewan Allen, who joined the agency in June this year. While Rob Jones was recognised as Code’s Most Helpful person, “someone who is always there for you, whatever the issue, and basically helps you do your job better”; and the Most Passionate title went to third-time winner John Lander, group creative director.

The ceremony was followed by a celebratory drink or two and a couple of hours’ kip, before the long trip home on Sunday.

According to a Code spokesperson, the three day trip could be summed up with “My little English Prince, more lotion please, I've not felt like this for ten years, we’ve been demonstrated against, I’ve got a great shelf, we have to leave now, lamp dancing and Alkohole.”
