Code raises £5.5k for Byte Night's action for children fundraiser

They slept rough, baked cakes and sold some of their most computerloved possessions, but it’s been worth it say the Code Computerlove team who’ve smashed their fundraising target and raised more than £5500 for Byte Night and Action For Children.

“But there’s still time to support us, simply go to http://www.justgiving.com/codesleepout/ and donate,” adds Code’s CEO Tony Foggett who was one of the 14-strong Code Computerlove team who took to the streets of Manchester on Friday night for the Byte Night Sleepout event.

Tony said: “We’ve had Computerlovers doing triathlons, hosting a fantastic fundraising event on Friday lunchtime – complete with a jumble sale, soup kitchen and homemade cake stall; and then an amazing effort by everyone who took part in the Byte Night sleepout. Each member of the team raised an individual £200+ which combined with the agency’s total meant we smashed the £5500 mark.”

He added: “It was windy, cold but surprisingly and mercifully dry. Although not a lot of sleep was had, just one night out, well prepared, in sleeping bags and survival sacks really brought home what an ordeal sleeping rough is. Earlier in the evening we met volunteers who had managed to get off the streets and were now helping Action for Children to deliver the vital support to help others to turn their lives around thanks to donations. We’ll definitely try to do it again next year and get a few more involved too.”
