Code helps Refuge speak out online with campaign microsite and site refresh

The microsite www.fourwaystospeakout.com supports a new Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign, which Refuge and Avon, the company for women, are launching in partnership today.

The initiative focuses on four ways that lives can be saved – buying and wearing Avon’s empowerment necklace, signing an online petition that will be sent to the Government to demand an end to the current postcode lottery of domestic violence services around the country, printing off and displaying posters in local communities and by simply speaking to family and friends to encourage them to join Refuge’s campaign.

In addition to providing all-important links to information for women who need help, the microsite showcases high profile supporters of the campaign, including Dame Helen Mirren, Patrick Stewart OBE, Fiona Bruce and Chris Rea.

The Four Ways to Speak Out campaign creative takes centre stage on the new look Refuge website www.refuge.org.uk, which has been re-designed to give even greater prominence to show how people can support the charity as well as maintaining clear sign posting to women in search of help and support.

Lisa King, Director of Communications for Refuge, said: “The microsite forms a pivotal part of the new Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign that we’re running with Avon. It gives us a way in which we can communicate our campaign messages in a distinct and separate way from our main website. One of the key elements to this campaign is our online petition and the microsite is the key driver for this being a success.”

The campaign is being supported with banner advertising, digital channel activity and a tie up with The Sun newspaper.

Lisa added: “The new-look Refuge website not only looks better but is much improved in terms of functionality.  It is now clearer and easier to either donate or get involved with the charity.   The new homepage provides direct links to fund raising information, giving without paying, how to initiate payroll giving, leaving a gift in your will, being a volunteer and how to make Refuge your charity of choice.

“Clear links are also accessible from the home-page for other key aspects of our work, from helping to raise awareness of the Early Warning Signs associated with domestic violence to directly supporting women who suspect they’re being abused.”

Lisa said: “We’re extremely grateful to Code for their ongoing support and for helping us to develop more sophisticated ways to make a difference to women’s lives.”
