Web Developer

The role

We're looking for a talented .NET Web Developer to join Code's growing technical team.

You will be involved across several of our key accounts, working within one of our cross discipline platform teams; looking at web, mobile web and potentially mobile app development.

You will ideally have CMS experience in either Umbraco or Sitecore, or similar .NET MVC based web applications and will recognise the benefit of unit and functional testing and good system architecture and design in order to deliver quality for our clients.

Naturally you'll be really passionate about the industry and have the appetite to stay abreast of current technologies and industry practice. You will be hardworking, talented and have a thirst for programming and solving problems.

Your skills / experience

  • C# ASP.NET – WebForms, MVC, LINQ, Web Services
  • Patterns, Dependency Injection, Test Driven Development – awareness and use
  • SQL Server 2005 and above
  • Understanding the HTTP stack and IIS administration
  • Version control – SVN or GIT
  • Performance and optimisation – lack of focus on the end product leads to a poor user experience that people don’t want to use!
  • Security
  • Building effective CMS solutions for both user and administrator
  • Exposure to different programming languages and approaches – a rounded view on what is possible.

Nice to have...

  • Mobile and cross platform experience – either mobile web or app development
  • HTML 4/5 and CSS
  • JavaScript – OO and a fundamental understanding of the JavaScript language, not just using libraries such as jQuery (although that is still some we use!). AJAX, JSON etc.
  • Server administration – either MS tech or Linux and the LAMP stack.
  • Any other relevant web technologies.

We'd like you to be

  • Self-motivated and able to work within a dynamic environment
  • Good under pressure and can multi task without reduction in work quality and concentration
  • A great communicator, both verbal and written
  • Experience working in a similar agency environment, although not essential
  • A passion for what you do and an ambition to push Code forward
  • Love working as part of a team, collaborating with technology and usability experts
  • Understand that achieving brilliance is a team effort - collaborate, educate, learn and build on the team around you.

Education

Formal IT qualifications or university degree are preferable but certainly not essential!

The environment

Our offices are based in Manchester City centre, just a few minutes’ walk from Piccadilly train station.  We've got 2 great studios: one looks like the original Starship Enterprise (that's from Star Trek if you don't know it) and the other studio is a dedicated creative/collaborative space for getting mucky in.

We value our working spaces greatly so we've crafted studios and working environments that let creativity flourish. We would like individuals who can embrace Code's learning culture and collaborative project approach.

The package

We offer a good salary, negotiable dependent on qualifications and experience. On top of this we have a generous benefits package, including pension scheme, medical insurance, profit related bonus, flexi-start, 25 days holiday, paid social events, bike schemes, child care schemes, you name it...
